The abstracted flowers are based on the popular summer flowers for the romantic situation: peonies, garden roses, sweet peas, and dahlias. The watercolour texture background adds the fresh feeling to the illustration, highlighting the clear atmosphere of Ravel’s music.
The main challenge was to create a music poster without a human. Many classical music posters had a repetitive pattern to include a pianist playing the piano or a composer in front of the orchestra. I wanted to try something more semiotic.
